The History of Farm Fresh Studios
Farm Fresh Studios began in the spring of 1996 when four friends were living on a large piece of property just outside of Bloomington, Indiana. Andy Storms, Mitch Getz, Eric Kabisch, and Jacob Belser decided they wanted to turn one of the four buildings on the property into a recording studio.
The four partners began building and gathering equipment throughout the spring and summer. Although not quite ready, Farm Fresh Studios hosted its first session on Thanksgiving weekend 1996. By the summer of 1997 the four partners decided they needed to expand on account of how busy they were.
Farm Fresh was able to acquire a lot of quality equipment by the summer of 1998. At this time the studio was very busy and doing quite well. Although the studio was busy, the partners soon realized it would be impossible for four people to make a living off of such a small studio.
That's when Jake enlisted the help of a new partner, Zach Liff, to take over the Farm. Jake and Zach started the studio in a very positive direction, but soon after the partnership began, Zach was forced to leave due to unforeseen outside-business obligations. With a lot of help from Zach, Jake was able to keep the business going.
In January of 2002, Jake became the sole owner Farm Fresh Studios. In September of 2003, Farm Fresh moved into its current location, an 80 year old former church, where Jake continues to record many of the regions best bands and ensembles. As of March 2007, Farm Fresh has recorded over 350 albums and more keep coming. You should record here and become a part of Bloomington musical history-oh, and get a great recording too!
